Canadiens sign Henry to two-year contract

Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - The Montreal Canadiens signed defenceman Alex Henry to a two-year, two-way contract on Friday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Henry did not appear in the NHL last season, but over 68 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, he had 13 assists and a plus-17 rating and ranked second on the team with 154 penalty minutes.

Over four seasons in the NHL, which has included stints with Edmonton, Washington, Minnesota and Montreal, he has played in 177 games and has two goals and nine assists along with 269 penalty minutes.

this guy is as tough as nails...I hope he see some playing time with the Habs this season.

He is a career AHLer, we need NHL skilled players on this team, goons even moreso!!!

Montreal needs a drop em kinda player, lots of skilled players on this team but no toughness.

yes but he can play forward on the 4th line too.

I don't know how much Henry could help this team but I DO know that they definitely need to get bigger and tougher.

Big difference.....Henry won't make nowhere the amount of money Laraque did and besides the only way Henry will get called up is if theres an injury.

But the biggest difference you failed to mention is that Henry doesn't send personal invitations out to fight.....he just drops them!
