Forward Andrew Ladd, a member of the Stanley-Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks who was traded to Atlanta on July 1, has settled on a 1-year, $2.35 million contract with the Thrashers, thus avoiding arbitration. The 24-year-old native of Maple Ridge, B.C. had 17 goals and 21 assists for the Hawks last season, putting up three goals and three assists in the post-season en route to the championship. Ladd was originally drafted fourth overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, going on to spend two seasons in Carolina. In February of 2008, he was traded from Carolina to Chicago for Tuomo Ruutu. Ladd was also a member of the gold-medal-winning Canadian World Junior hockey team in 2005. In 321 career games between the 'Canes and Blackhawks, Ladd has 62 goals and 86 assists for 149 points.
